Meredith

Doug, a WWII Veteran, passed peacefully at Perley Rideau Veterans Health Centre on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the age of 95. Beloved husband of Lise Meredith (nee Mongeon). Predeceased by his first wife Lorna (nee Bethune). Loving father of Colin (Carolina), Anne, Barbara and William (Simi). Grandfather of Jordan, Jason and Tyler. Great-grandfather of Michael and James.

Doug was a proud Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War.  As a Naval Supply Officer (Pusser), he attended the annual RCN Pussers’ Reunion in October 2018 at the HMCS Bytown Wardroom as guest of honour, being the senior Pusser in Ottawa who had served under the Naval White Ensign. (Picture below shows Doug with fellow Pussers who also served under the White Ensign). He was also an enthusiastic volunteer guide at the Canadian War Museum.
Doug was an avid skier and cyclist.  He and Lise enjoyed summers at their cottage.
Friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home – Carling Chapel 2313 Carling Ave. Ottawa, ON K2B 7G3 613-828-2313 on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the chapel at 12 pm.
Reception to follow in the Arbor lounge.
